Milpitas: Site near senior center to be named Cesar Chavez Plaza

Cesar Chavez, the illustrious labor leader and civil rights activist who has been honored around the country with streets, buildings and parks named after that person will be permanently recognized here too.

A space formerly known as the old veterans plaza site will be called Cesar Chavez Plz. the Milpitas City Council unanimously decided Feb. 21 when it approved a consent agenda.

The initial costs of naming the plaza involve decorative lettering and a plaque. As part of its vote, the council authorized spending up to $9, one hundred for the formal lettering, plaque and other amenities for the plaza.
